节选出处:Research Methods Fall 2020.md --24. Assignments that Develop Critical Thinking:
[a] Reading: Weekly assigned readings and discuss in the class [a] Oral Presentation:
Eight oral presentations. Seven of them are short. The last one is the research plan. The presentations will be evaluated in the following manner: Content: 30% Clarity of Presentation: 40% Proper use of Time: 20% [b] Writing: The length of the paper is determined by the instructor. The final paper is 12-15 pages.
[c] Homework: Students are required to write seven papers: from a half page to one page, from one to more pages, and the final paper is based on the short paper they start from the beginning. The final paper is due Dec 10. All papers are to be typed, spell-checked and grammar-checked. They should be well written, with a logical flow of thought, and double-spaced with 1” margins on all sides. Papers should be typed in 12-pitch font, using Courier or Times Roman typeface. Indent the first line of each new paragraph five spaces. Also include a title page so that the instructor can identify the student, assignment and course number. Although numbered, the title page does not count toward the required number of content pages in any given assignment. Proper standard English is required. Do not use slang or a conversational style of writing. Always avoid contractions (e.g. “can’t” for “cannot”) in formal essays. Always write in complete sentences and paragraphs! Staple all papers in the upper left-hand corner and do not put them in a folder, binder or plastic cover. All written work, citations and bibliographies should conform to the rules of composition laid down in The Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition) or the MLA Handbook. A paper that lacks citations and/or a bibliography will receive an automatic 10% reduction in grade. NOTE: Any assignment that contains excessive grammar, punctuation and / or spelling errors will be penalized with a reduction of a minimum of one-third letter grade. Example: an “A-“ paper would receive a “B+.” VERY IMPORTANT: Turnitin.com Students must also submit an electronic version of their paper to turnitin.com. This electronic version is due on the same day as the hardcopy. Failure to submit the electronic version on time will be treated as a late submission of homework, with the corresponding 5% lower grade for each day past the deadline. 25. Methods of Student Evaluation (It should total 100%):
(x) Eight papers (30%) (X) Eight presentations (30%)
